Pattern Tap aims to be the best resource for examples of specific design and user experience patterns on the web. The examples should provide an education in what is working well on the web and why. It is a communal effort toward a common goal of improving the intelligence of our interaction design industry.
What's the Pattern Tap Story?
A long time ago in the dark ages of the Internet, the year 2008, Matthew Smith (formerly of Squared Eye, now Creative Director of Zaarly) grew troubled. There was no place that could inspire web designers that dealt with particulars. There were plenty of web galleries, but no one place you could go to find the best way to style lists for great design and good user experience. So, in those dark days, Matthew set out to build a bright spot in the world for design and interaction inspiration. Armed with Flickr, a beer, and a bucket of tags, Matthew developed the concept behind Pattern Tap. Then, he bartered with Chris Pollock of Simplified Safety to build out the first version of Pattern Tap.

Three years later, Pattern Tap has over 25,000 registered users, gets over 100,000 unique IPs per day, with crazy people that spend on average 6 minutes browsing and finding what they need for design and UX inspiration. Yet Pattern Tap desperately needed an overhaul to position it for future growth. Matthew partnered with Kevin Smith, Jamin Jantz and Army of Bees, to conceive, plan, design and build out Pattern Tap 2. Here it is.
Pattern Tap is better than it was.
Does this mean we've figured it out this time around? Seriously, has that ever happened in the history of the Internet? We know Pattern Tap is awesome, but we're just getting started. We have so many ideas. Really, what this new version is mostly about is giving us the ability to grow and explore. That's what we're about and we're glad to have you on this journey with us.
